At Wegmans the indoor seating area is pretty far from the checkouts. Like really in a whole different wing of the store.

3 feet as in 36 inches? Where is this happening?

OP is one of those people for whom "6 feet" is actually more like 17.

Covid is over op, we have dems in the white house. So you can relax. But if you’re really that worried, shop at stores without dining areas or do grocery pickup.

It varies by store. There’s at least one store where I’ve shopped where this is the was the case pre-Covid.

They are currently not open.

It's really unproductive to think of anxiety as just caution, with an inability to ascertain viable risk.

I agree, although I have not seen anyone eating at the stores that I have been to. Large numbers of people unmasked, indoors is an increased risk. Raising the risks for those of us who are still unvaccinated and possibly at high risk if we get Covid while we are accessing essential services is unconscionably selfish.

OP if you're afraid to stand 10 feet away from someone eating, while you're wearing a mask, and for only like 2-3 minutes... then you have FAR more anxiety than you think.

Thanks to the PPs. I don't actually have that much anxiety--I understand that people will be eating indoors. I just want to wait a little longer before being around it. I don't think agoraphobia is a concern but just want to wait until more people are vaccinated.

OP please find a way to work on your anxiety. You need to take steps to re-enter "normal life" before you devolve into some kind of aghoraphobia.

Yes, indoor dining has opened in grocery stores - Whole Foods, Harris Teeter, H-Mart, etc. I'm not ready for eating indoors quite yet, but grocery shopping is not a problem. I hit 2-3 grocery stores a week (plus other stores).

The overwhelming main place people are getting covid is from personal indoor unmasked interactions, like in someone's private home. People aren't getting it merely picking up a few things from the supermarket.
