The CDC keeps changing its stance for political reasons. If they did this crap under Trump everyone would be outraged. OP got her kid exposed to COVID and that child tested positive. Common decency is to have everyone stay home and stop the spread.

We've had six kids test positive at our school in the past two weeks. They say none were on school grounds for 48 hours beforehand, but it's still bad news.
+1 We had a kid come in looking noticeably ill on Tuesday. He said his mom sent him to school because she needed a break from him. As I was leaving today someone said that he tested positive. I think things are going to get worse before they get better.

The problem is they base that on the date of the test, rather than the date symptoms started or the date that the child was most likely to be contagious (which is several days before symptoms start and well before a test is taken).
