+1 on Anker. They make good car charging cords also.

Anker charging cords are reasonably priced and durable. Some models have a lifetime warranty. I had one go bad after two years, and got a new one sent via warranty claim. Recommend.

This has never happened to me. It's partially how you hold the phone to use it while it's charging and how you pull the cord out when you're done, I think.

My DD got an SE2 for Christmas as well and it came with a cord. The Apple webpage says it comes with a cord. Do you mean it was missing the charging brick?

For me, the plastic tubing always ends up splitting and exposing the fragile internal wires. This always happens at the end that connects to my phone because the wire ends up bending a lot there I guess. It’s so frustrating that Apple hasn’t improved the wire in all this time. It is surely by design so that you’ll have to continue to buy them. I guess I need to wrap my wire in electrical tape when I first buy it or something. Anytime I buy a non-Apple lightning wire it’s a crapshoot on whether it will work at all. Any recommendations? (Beyond stop buying iPhones because honestly I like my phone). And wireless chargers are great except that half the time I actually want to be using my phone while it’s charging.

Planned obsolescence. This is another way Apple makes money. The power cords for Macs are the same.

It's really awful that Apple refuses to make durable cords. It's terrible for the environment, not to mention just shitty corporate practice.

NP: In my case, it’s more that I keep my phones and laptops for a long time. I’m on my 3rd $80 charger. I also think that Apple has built in obsolescence in many of their products. Upgrades pretty much forced me to use iCloud storage. Now, although I have plenty of room on my devices, I get constant messages offering me more iCloud storage for convenient monthly payments. If we keep our devices, eventually we’ll have to replace the chargers and the cords.

I’m not sure what it’s called but I have a flexible plastic spiral thingy that fits over the end of the cord to protect it. We’ll see how it goes.

OP here. Right there with you. I googled the native union wire a PP mentioned above and I just ordered three of them from Nordstrom on sale 40% off! $20 a pop. https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwj7xKO4q7bvAhVFsYYKHTIeBAMYABAFGgJ2dQ&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESQOD2JdGeKjvZpBz92qrjs39mx-b7G_jICLXORQetKjy36zGxY8fvAXc8V-e--OANkWYyYhKU6dRvvXPuRJf46Vs&sig=AOD64_1mRJ8q2AqxgkPztcVob5nPdTz9vA&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwi3t5m4q7bvAhUNElkFHXWvBnoQwg96BAgDEC0&adurl=
