I imagine a big difference. The club coaches get a lot more because they are older and far more experienced. You get paid more for life experience and in some cases how you are able to handle crazy parents, emergency on decks, or calling a meet due to weather. So a club coach might get 7-10K and a college coach would get 3-7K.

This sounds about right. But, I’d guess the college kid serving as head coach is more like 4500-7,000. This assumes they had been an assistant previously.

10K for 8 weeks? That’s too little.

I am paying my golf coach $200/hour. I take lessons twice a week. He is booked from 11am to 7pm, Tuesday through Sunday.

You are getting ripped off if $200 an hour. Insane.

And we give a really nice end of season gift. Most families donate on average $10-$20 per coach gift. The team reps generally get about $750 each.

By tryouts do you mean time trials or actual tryouts before then? We don’t have tryouts to make or not make the team and swim practice starts the day after Memorial Day.

Our team rep does all of the hiring of assistant coaches and we have assistant coached do tryouts. Our head coach coached club teams so they really only start when practices start after Memorial Day. Granted, we are middle of the pack. I imagine the top divisions have a lot more work and input.

That is decent money for 8 weeks of part time work. Granted NVSL is incredibly intense.

We are a middle of the pack division team. Paying our new coach almost $8k.

For something like the NVSL? How much experience does the “less experienced” head coach have?

The range is fairly wide. I know of a high division team (Div 1, 2, 3ish) that was paying about $15k a few years ago. Our lower division team has been paying in the $5-6k range.

Does anyone know what an average salary is for a Summer Swimming Head Coach Position? Thinking more in the range of a new, less experienced head coach. Thx!
