I think schools will be open 5 days a week with masks mandatory if case rate is anything above 1 new case per 100,000 per day but optional below that; and with a choice to stay virtual through a county wide academy separate from the individual schoo.

Welcome to crofton! Housing market is crazy right now (like everywhere I guess.). Houses go above asking first day they are listed.

Elementary schools just opened. Middle and high are soon. All is hybrid, but seems to be going well. Teachers here fought opening a bit but not as bad as dc, moco, and really school board is much more moderate than moco. Hard to know what fall will bring, some people seem to still want some hybrid, too.

What areas are you thinking of moving to? I would be careful with Anne Arundel County Schools. It's a mixed bag of quality.
I think they will open full time in the fall after another round of squabbling with the people involved in the decision.

OP here, Crofton area. Thanks.

Depending on where in Crofton you’ll be zoned for eithe the brand new Crofton HS or Arundel HS.
My God daughter just graduated from Arundel and had a great experience there. She’s now at UM College Park and doing well (despite the chaos this year).
People have high hopes for Crofton - should be great once they can actually get kids in there and get up and running in person.

OP, please don't get your Anne Arundel info from DCUM. Most of the info you'll see here is outdated and best, and mean-spirited ignorance at worst.

Doesn't take much to look up that some of the county's schools are better than others.

We are in Howard County, but it is very likely that all schools in MD will be open in the Fall.

MD may be 49th out of 50 states in vaccination rates, but we are still likely to have the majority of adults vaccinated by August. The vaccine availability is increasing steadily, and appointments are becoming a lot easier to get. The mass vaccination sites are increasing appointments (the new M&T stadium site is up to 4000 vaccinations per day and aiming to be up to 6000 vaccinations per day within the next two weeks (end of March). The pharmacies are finally getting more and regular distributions of vaccines, so appt availability at pharmacies increased significantly over the last 1.5 weeks and continue to become easier to schedule.

So despite how poorly MD has been at rolling out the vaccinations, I still think that we will likely have enough vaccinations in the state by August for the school to open under normal conditions. This is only my conjecture, but I still think it is quite likely.

No one knows.

But I think so, yes.

DS is in 3rd in AACPS and it seems to be going really well. There are now hybrid waiting lists at a ton of schools. Virtually all teachers and student-facing staff have been vaccinated. I really can't see any reason that there won't be 5 day per week school in the fall.

That said, I can definitely see masks and cohorting and things like that still in place.
