It doesn't require premium gas.

We have had our 2012 Tiguan since new. The newer 2L turbo will run on 87 octane gas and I would not hesitate to run that motor on that gas; the ECU will adjust the timing to deal with the lower octane fuel. We have had very few unscheduled repairs. I would buy another one in a heart beat, though we don't really like the new one in terms of design.

Once it is out of warranty, you will want to find a decent independent shop. VW maintenance isn't that much more than other cars. We take ours to Foreign Car Service on Bashford Lane in Alexandria.

I’ve seen a few on the road. Look small but haven’t seen inside

We got one in June and have absolutely loved it so far! Good size for the city, I like how it drives/feels, and we got a great deal on both price and financing. Will also recommend getting the optional third row if you have kids - it’s pretty tight so we don’t use is often at all but it’s been extremely convenient to have when we do need to use it.

Like pretty much all VW’s.

Your ignorance is showing. My Passat is 16 years old. Going hard like my rooster

We've had one for 3 years and love it. Go for the test drive!

I’ve started to see a lot on the road. Not sure how they ride though.

We test drove it and my take on it was that it drives and feels like a cheap rental. Atlas is much better.

I test drove one and liked it but it seemed a little too insubstantial and light for me. I am used to heavier cars like Mercedes and BMW. I realized I needed the more solid feeling car. That said it’s a wonderful design.

Looking to test drive and wanted to see your experience with one. Does it fit your family? It’s 4 of us. Is maintenance expensive?
