St John is probably the most beautiful of the islands, but it is very t-shirt and flip flops. You might be able to get a decent burger, but you might not. That's not why you go there.

I always thought St. Croix had a better food scene than St. John, even though I much preferred the beaches on St. John. There were a few good restaurants but I haven’t been since the hurricane so not sure if any of my previous haunts have reopened. And heck even though it was nothing special what I wouldn’t give for a lime and coconut at the Beach Bar right now....

Also I should add we don’t care for being around families and screaming kids we are a young couple
Turks and Caicos is the most upscale and has the best beaches. Don’t stay at Beaches (family resort). Find a luxury resort or condo.

St. Bart’s and Anguilla have good restaurants. We enjoyed the food on the French side of St. Martin.
Puerto Rico has a good food scene off the beaten path.
St. John still hasn’t fully recovered since the hurricane. Caneel Bay resort was destroyed, so the island has far less wealthy tourists to feed. As such, restaurants aren’t very basic (borderline crummy).

Seconded. And though the beaches were pretty they were far too windy recently to enjoy. Many were also pretty crowded.

Help me choose please we love beautiful beaches and delicious food. Going in may. We are very picky travelers and would probably do the dunmore at harbour island or a nice villa in St. John
