Wow people harsh. I was the young new expecting mom just last year and I went to multiple houses meeting women like this and taking their stuff. I found them selling stuff on Nextdoor

Post all your stuff on FB marketplace. Your absolute price ceiling should be 50% of what you paid for it (and probably less tbh.)

+1
Absolutely this.

Only if it still has the tags on it. If it’s been used or worn, start at 25%. For outfits, no more than $10, and that’s for something that was $50+ new.

I appreciate the perspective.

But, I also know that so much donated stuff ends up in the trash, and not because it’s not valuable.

I just wish I knew someone who was expecting her first because I could easily equip someone with everything they need in a single afternoon.

Just list it all on your arlington parent group - high chair, $25, car seat, $20. Then spend an afternoon killing yourself trying to match up the item with the person. Honestly, your stuff that has gone through 3 kids isn't as valuable as you think. You'll make a bunch of new parents happy by offering your stuff at low prices and they'll take it off your hands in seconds.

OP here.

Honestly in my pipe dream scenario I’d sell they mamaroo for like 20 bucks. The car seat for 10. The ergo baby for 10. Etc. just if I could sell it all at once.

But, I’m hearing what people are saying, and I appreciate that used stuff just is t that valuable, especially if one doesn’t want to put in the effort to go through things and list them one by one.

How high end is it after three kids? It’s not worth as much as you think. If you’re worried about it getting used, put it on Nextdoor or go to A Wider Circle.

Everything from a car seat, mamaroo, nursing pillows, multiple carriers, clothes from Hanna and Boden, etc etc. I don’t need to get top dollar for it all but it feels collectively too valuable for me to just donate. In my ideal world I’d find an honest seeming woman who go could come over on a nice day and hang out for a while on our driveway / porch while I brought things out one by one and we determined a reasonable low price for what she wants - and most of what she didn’t want I’d just donate.

Is this a pipe dream? Anyone know of how I might find such a lady? Or is there a better way to easily and quickly sell baby gear?

I live in Arlington btw.

Are you offering to pay her? You could hire someone to do this and she could pretend to buy things.

I think your ideal scenario sounds pretty pipe dreamish.

I have sold larger baby items like a high chair, travel crib, etc... but things like a dock a tot didn't sell so I just donated those. clothes - you could look into a consignment store but honestly unless it's really high end I would donate.

List it all on Facebook as a bundle for $50.

Or have a yard sale.

I sold all these things to a high end consignment store and made a decent amount of money on it.

No one is going to want to come over as you bring out items “one by one” and haggle on price for used kid stuff. No one is going to pay top dollar for it either - you see delusional sellers all the time who drop $10 off of the original price and wonder why no one will buy their old things. Sort it into lots, post them on next door or other similar site. Baby gear is not an investment - it was a need you had. Just get it out of your house.
