Subject: Changing clothes after playing?
My son was making mud pies at daycare but using dirt instead of mud. He was covered in red dirt. I wished I had something to change him in just because he got the car seat filthy.

Only if there is visible dirt, otherwise no.

We love having debates about this on dcum but the concerns about “outside” vs “inside” are a cultural thing.

Crusted mud or poop gets changed. I would also change in summer when the playing fields are straight packed dirt because it’s so dusty, if I had time.

If there is visible mud or kicked under, then yes, change clothes as soon as we get home. But if we spent the morning at the playground or playing outdoors in the grass? I just put on a new pair of pants before nap and call it good to go.

We only change clothes if they are dirty or muddy or full of sand or something.

Excessive cleanliness drives allergies. Bring home the dirt!

I would only change if a kid was full of mud and I was worried the mud would get on my furniture or floor 🤪 Or if a member of my family had bad environmental allergies. But we don’t. So really never changed play clothes.

I think you’re completely normal but apparently there’s a whole group on here who believes are such thing as play clothes and home clothes.

Depends what / where they were playing. Playground, sandbox, rolling in grass? Yes, probably a good idea to change.
Just walking outside or playing ball where the clothes are not coming that much in touch with anything, may be no need.

Took advantage of the AWESOME weather today and took my 19 month old outside for most of the day. He wasn’t visibly soiled or anything afterwards so I kept in the clothes he was in, and my mother made a comment saying that this was disgusting. Is it normal to change clothes just from playing outside? It’s not like he even sweats at this age.
