Most people-chose DL in November and are being held to their choices. They don’t like the 4 days a week concurrent model. They have kids settled in DL and childcare worked out and don’t want to uproot them. Most people do not favor DL for another full school year.

DP. I completely agree with you, but I’m also concerned enough people may vote on this single issue to flip the governorship and really screw all of us.

FCPS teacher here. If we do not start school next fall with 5 days a week, I will be very upset and will likely be one of those voting to flip it red. Unfortunately, I realize that would not really solve the problem... but how else am I supposed to react?

I believe the number one thing besides SB 1303 that will get us to the fall is not having an hours waiver from VDOE. If they have a teacher contact email, I would absolutely shoot them an email also. It would be hard to not do 5 days at least concurrent without an hours waiver, and I certainly HOPE FCPS doesn't want to make teachers do concurrent with no extra planning. I hear it's the hardest form of teaching.

Yes, but it’s mostly the swing voters (IE white soccer moms) that are most strongly for in person learning

Thanks for letting me know. I'll be doubling down on efforts to tell him follow the science and if 5 days a week is not safe/imprudent, not to do it. The vast majority of people are keeping their kids home for DL -- I want to be sure the schools focus on meeting THEIR needs, not the needs of impatient twits who think COVID-19 is no big deal and we should just pretend like it never happened.

I predicted the 6 ft being an issue. As a doctor himself, I think he's going to be less likely to avoid the CDC guidance.

According to this WaPo analysis, he only committed to “reviewing” it, not signing it. If you want 5 days, better start writing/calling to let him know it.
