Every night if DS asks for it and he's eaten dinner. Usually a mini Reeses or a handful of M&Ms. Most weekends we bake something and have it as an afternoon treat. There's an ice cream place on the way home from Pre-K and we stop for an afternoon snack once in a while (special day, first warm day of spring, etc.)

My kids can have sweets whenever they want.

We do dessert every night. Sometimes it's 3 hershey kisses or a cookie and sometimes it's a bowl full of ice cream with toppings.

I grew up having a small dessert every night and we've done the same. Usually ice cream.

It doesn't really count as a special treat. A special treat would be if I made cookies or birthday cake or something. That counts as dessert if we've got it, though if I make cookies everyone samples them, of course!

I got tired of my kids always begging for stuff so we set a schedule for 3 nights a week. They know which nights are "dessert nights" and they don't bother me on other nights anymore.

We will randomly have stuff on other occasions, holidays etc of course.

What’s wrong with a cheese stick? The rest I get.

Every day, assuming she’s eaten a good dinner. Usually it’s an Eddy’s fruit popsicle, a cookie, or an ice cream sandwich.

We’re pretty liberal about treats. I don’t always make a special dessert; once a week or so I’ll make apple crisp or something like that. DD loves sorbet and gelato, and if she wants, she can have a mini cone after dinner, or some other treat like gummies or whatever we have in the house. Some nights, she’ll ask for something, some nights she just wants fruit, some nights she just wants a glass of milk.

FWIW, she can always have a treat if she eats something healthy first. Want a gummy worm at 7 in the morning? Sure, go for it, if you ate a healthy breakfast. We let her self regulate, and TBH, she does a great job of eating a very well rounded diet without us pushing, prodding, coaxing, or even suggesting. I guess treats aren’t so special, but that was kind of the goal.

Special occasions only because I'm not to be trusted where cakes are concerned. Fruit is the daily dessert, and DD likes a little mango ice cream as an after school snack every day.

Which reminds me: it's my birthday soon and I'm trying to decide between my double chocolate cake, or lime bars. We already had the double chocolate last month, and lime is more spring-like... but I love chocolate. Which one?

Rarely. Once a week maybe.
I have an impulse eater spouse and one child.

How many nights a week do you do a “special” treat?
