It is not known in broad academic circles as better than UVA. They're considered peer institutions. Even if money isn't an issue, there's no reason to attend Georgetown over UVA.

Georgetown is plainly a better school and you plainly have a large chip on your shoulder.

Even a UVA fan will and it there are certainly majors at Georgetown that are stronger than UVA. My DS Who was interested in Georgetown but didn’t apply is an international relations major and will be going to UVA this fall. Would he rather be at Georgetown? Probably but just because of the strength of the foreign affairs department. Is he crying in his Cheerios, nope.

Georgetown is dirty and run-down. You can do better.

My son loves Georgetown but didn't even apply because no one gets in from our NOVA public.

Colleges like to boast that they have students from all across the country so is it harder to get into Georgetown if you’re from the DC area? I can see them wanting politicians’ kids or students related to influential DC power brokers but if you’re just an unconnected nobody does living here hurt your chances?
