In 'close' order of competitiveness (check their website, tryouts for Summer Super Y teams are happening now):
Chantilly
Great Falls/Reston
Herndon
Northern Virginia United
Bethesda
Arlington
NVUFC and Arlington have already had Super Y tryouts. This is NVUFC’s inaugural season and it’s loaded with ECNL and NCSL D1/2 talent. It’s also Great Falls Reston’s inaugural season too. I really don’t want to be negative, but a player who is a bit better than most rec players won’t make it there. I’d say hire a private trainer/ small group trainer who can help you kid get up to speed. If you really want to make it try out for NVSC’s Super Y team. My DS went to one of their tryouts and missed the next one and still made it. They have struggled to fill their rosters this year. If you don’t believe me check their social media! They have had like 4 supplemental tryouts
Thank you for your post. I should clarify that DS’s current coach said he could probably make it on a lower tier travel team. However, he already plays another travel sport and can’t actually do travel soccer. DS loves playing soccer and would like to get better over the summer when he has more time.

I should have been more careful in the way I described his level of play. Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:He could tryout for one of the several local summer Super Y teams. The Super Y team carry pretty large rosters, so it might be a chance for him to get traction for a future travel team.

Anonymous wrote:A camp atmosphere might be better for summer. He could be around coaches and better players that will raise his level going into fall. Just playing on a team might not do that.
