If you don't like the taste, don't eat them. But please don't spread false rumors about safety.

https://www.100daysofrealfood.com/the-truth-about-baby-carrots/

"the carrots are treated with WATER that contains a small amount of chlorine. And this water/chlorine solution is “well within the limits established by the EPA and comparable to the amount acceptable in [public] drinking water.”"

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/baby-carrots/

As an antimicrobial treatment to minimize or reduce the contamination of the finished product, cocktail carrots can be treated with chlorine. Those that are so treated are subsequently rinsed with potable water to remove the excess chlorine before packaging:

According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, the use of chlorine as an antimicrobial treatment is a current accepted practice in the processing for all fresh-cut ready-to-eat vegetables

This is what I do too..repackage. There is always a bit of liquid in the bag which I think is the issue. Worse case scenario, boil and have cooked.

Store in water, refresh water if it gets cloudy.

Same. Both tasks are easily outsourced to a family member. I have scrubbed carrots and skipped the peeling many times as well.

Same. Baby carrots are so wet and it is a pure luck as to when they get slime goo on them. I’ve bought them from the store already with slime (and not expired).

How are regular carrots shriveling up in a few days? Mine last weeks. Aldi brand- non organic- 1 or 2 lb bags.

I’m lazy so I buy them, but real carrots taste so much better. I can’t get past the mental hurdle of peeling at this point in my life.

Yes. I've noticed that sometimes they have a very strong chemical flavor. And sometimes they are slimey. The problem seems to be bag by bag.
I'm not a big fan but my kids fuss if I buy regular carrots.

Rinse. Pat dry. Easy in a pinch.

Are you talking about the baby-cut carrots? Those are just cut up from larger carrots and processed to look like mini-carrots. I buy the regular plastic-bagged carrots and they last forever in the fridge.

Baby carrots always seem slimy to me. I buy whole, organic carrots and they hold up in flavor and freshness for at least a week.

Aside from taste... I just found out that baby carrots are rinsed in chlorine to prevent mold. Going back to regular carrots, even though they seem to shrivel up in my fridge within a couple of days.
