When I lived in the bay area nobody wanted to be anywhere near Richmond or Sunset. Times sure have changed.

In Oakland, consider Rockridge, Temescal, the area around Piedmont Avenue, and also the Lake Merritt/Grand Lake area. Where is your office going to be?
Thank you!! I'm a consultant, so will mainly just be expensing ubers to SFO. Also considering buying, but it seems like the gap between mortgage/rent for an equivalent space in SF is huge and I don't feel comfortable buying my first house knowing I could never rent it out if I move (also obviously don't know the area well). HHI is 250 and I would buy through a friend who would pass through her fee, so no closing costs.

I've never had an issue here but had two friends mugged/assaulted at 4pm by H st and another held up at gunpoint in Columbia Heights in the past year. Unfortunately crime during Covid has radically changed safety (at least for women) in different neighborhoods.
