The mission has changed over the past 30-40 years. It's currently full of bespoke cheese shops, french bakeries, and high-end chocolatiers. I think there may still be a few taquerias.

I also recommend Noe Valley — cute neighborhood, sunny, bougie, close to the Mission / transit but much safer feeling than the Mission, and easy access to SFO via 280 or Bart.

Thank you!! I'm a consultant, so will mainly just be expensing ubers to SFO. Also considering buying, but it seems like the gap between mortgage/rent for an equivalent space in SF is huge and I don't feel comfortable buying my first house knowing I could never rent it out if I move (also obviously don't know the area well). HHI is 250 and I would buy through a friend who would pass through her fee, so no closing costs.

Ok, I just left the Bay Area after 7 years due to being sick of the high cost of living among other things. If you have to go to SFO frequently, rockridge has very easy BART access to SFO without having to change trains. It’s a very expensive neighborhood to buy in however, but everything is expensive everywhere.

You could also look in berkeley (Elmwood is a nice neighborhood, though there are lots of nice neighborhoods there)

Not now tons of outdoor eating/drinking, plus a safer atmosphere. Moving to SF soon and looking for help narrowing down neighborhoods. I’m single, female (so safety is a priority, but also walkable cafes/restaurants) and late 20’s. What neighborhoods would you recommend that feel like Logan circle in DC - walkable, decent selection of restaurants and coffee shops, relatively safe (though not as residential/safe as Georgetown, Cleveland park, etc.)?

I’ve heard marina is too much like navy yard and that’s it. Thanks!!
