We had 7 highly graded embryos. Only 3 were normal, and only 1 of those resulted in a successful pregnancy. I was 36 at retrieval, only issue was PCOS.

I am 35 and opted to do it. If I had been your age, I might have opted against. I think you have to do the financial cost analysis as well as consider how much time and emotional turmoil you are willing to deal with before getting a successful pregnancy. For example, the cost of PGS versus possible going through two or more transfers if the first or second embryo is abnormal and you miscarry. That is lost time too.

Do it. I was 29 when we did my retrieval and opted out of it because of my age. We went through two unsuccessful transfers until we finally had success with the third and I regret not knowing if those would have worked had we tested. It will also provide peace of mind for future transfers.

I did it, and I’m 31. My clinic encouraged it because you can transfer embryos with best chance of becoming a viable pregnancy, thus improving your odds and potentially avoiding more heartache and months/cycles invested. Most of our embryos were normal, a couple mosaic or abnormal.

I also think it’s worth doing if you’re young because you have a good chance of extracting a lot of eggs and being able to use embryos from this round of IVF for more than one child, so the above benefits are twofold when you’re older. If you are interested in family balancing/gender selection at any point, genetic testing opens up that possibility (in my case they were all the same gender, so it doesn’t matter to me personally, lol!)

You are so young, unless you have other reasons to consider PGS (recurrent miscarriage, genetic disease) I would not spend the money.

I am 27 and would like to do a fresh transfer but am considering frozen because of PGS.
