My text to Larla: "Happy Birthday"
The text I get back: Liked "Happy Birthday"

Or worse: Laughed at "Happy Birthday"

Laughed at “What's worse is that I don't have an iPhone, so when people like one of my texts, it literally repeats the text to me. I hate it.”

Liked 'Laughed at “What's worse is that I don't have an iPhone, so when people like one of my texts, it literally repeats the text to me. I hate it.”'

Why this made me laugh so much, I don’t know, but I needed it.

NP with android. When I want to ack something and I can't like it and it's 20 messages ago on a group text, I have to basically restate it or it looks like i'm ignoring it. Almost enough for me to consider an iPhone.

Yes! I remember when I first started getting those stupid "like" messages on my Android and I thought someone was going to the trouble of writing all those things.

Stop the likes!

Stop the likes!

Stop the likes!

Yes I agree that is straight up overkill.

However just one to acknowledge the person read my text is okay.

* I didn’t know that those who do not have an iPhone cannot see the liked symbol at all!

Yes, people like this are awful. My sister does it so she can have the last word, in a weird twisted way. We'll be in a group text message, and she will literally search for something she didn't like/live/laugh at after everyone just so her 'response' is last. It drives me bonkers.

I know a lot of people use this to communicate "I saw and acknowledge this message" - that's fine.

But you don't need to reply, then like or love everything in the entire text message exchange resulting in like 13 likes or loves that are pointless clogging overkill.
