The rubber hot dogs There was not a love of school lunches in our family in APS.

My kids didn't even like the pizza lol

The chicken nuggets and chicken sandwiches are pretty great though IMO. My kids also love the spaghetti and the burgers.

I wish they’d bring back the Salisbury steak. I always bought that as a teacher 😂

What they do with meal service may vary by school. WMS said in the last update I heard that while there would be meal service, they weren't sure if it would be the traditional format or if it would be all pre-bagged lunches to minimize the number of staff needed in the cafeteria and time students have to spend in line.

Ours won’t eat it. Also had trouble with all the wrappers.

hA! They changed the pizza back in 2012 or so. It was the only item my kid would eat from the cafeteria. Now none of them even like the pizza, true!

Which is such a shame. I have such fond memories of my school pizza, haha.

Yeah, not a fan. My neighbor keeps giving me meals her kid gets (kid is level 1 and he brings home multiple each day). We use the milk and sometimes the fruit. The rest is awful.

It’s great they’re doing that for many reasons! Unfortunately our family can’t participate due to allergies, but I’m so glad it’s being offered to everyone.

I haven't heard this in APS. I would be surprised if this is the case, especially for secondary students who will be carrying their bookbags all day and can just throw the lunch packaging back in when they're done.

I haven't heard this in APS. Of course we're waiting for any kind of detailed information and my 1st grader is supposed to start in a week...

My SIL in Fairfax said they can only bring disposable lunches (brown bags, plastic, etc). Has your school set requirements for this? No one brought it up at our town hall. If you can bring your bookbag back and forth, why can't you bring a lunchbox/reusable containers? Hoping this isn't the case in APS.
