How did you know it was Northwestern?

Anonymous wrote:DS applied for dual degrees in one of the top 15 colleges. He did really well during his audition and got strong feedback from the professor.
Should he do nothing but wait for the final announcement?
He is NMF in a large public HS.

DS plays an unpopular woodwind instrument and is the principle player in a youth orchestra. He made to all state band every year since 7th grade. We have tried to persuade him to apply for conservatory but he said he wants to double major in a large university with a good music school.
I wanted to get a counselor to guild his college application process but he refused it. As an immigrant and no musician we know very little about colleges and nothing about music school.
He really likes the professor so we would do something to enhance his application.

Congratulations, OP! It's probably too late for this since it sounds like your DC already applied, but the University of Rochester is a very good school with one of the top conservatories in the country (Eastman School of Music). There are a number of Eastman students who double major and end up with a degree from Eastman and one from Rochester.
On the off chance your plans don't work out this year, they do take transfers.
