$18 per hour. she is ok, but not great. 10 days PTO. guaranteed hrs, but less than full time. I'd rather pay more and get someone better, but my spouse is paranoid about covid exposure with new person. Ideally, you get what you pay for. But I don't know if it's always true.

+1. The reading-in-English was important to us. Even the foreign-born nannies we interviewed weren’t comfortable reading to the kids or texting in English. We pay $28 for two kids (toddler and newborn).

It could be anywhere from 18-30+, it depends on number of kids, hours, live in/ live out, whether nanny drives or not, etc.

20-30 but a lot depends on hours and just the luck of what your nanny made in her last job.
IME, many don’t understand the OT requirements so she may ask for $25/hr for a 50 hour week but you need to set the rate so that 40x + (1.5*x*10)=(25*50). Where x is the actual hourly rate and you pay her 1.5x for any additional hours worked.
We had many applicants saying we didn’t need to pay OT for guaranteed hours over 40 provided we paid ___ per hour or ___ per week. But you need an hourly rate with 1.5 Ot over 40 hours.

I'd say $18-$22 for 2 kids, depending on the experience of the nanny. The ones you will prefer will end up in the $20-22 range. We had a fantastic nanny at $20 two years ago.

You can’t pay both portions of employment taxes - if an employer pays the employee’s taxes, that is just more income to the employee, for which additional tax is due.

We pay $25/ hour with guaranteed hours that includes ten hours of OT a week- I find for many nannies the actual rate was less important than guaranteed hours

This is for two kids

Between $25 and $30 for a legal, English fluent (speaking and reading) educated nanny with experience.

A lot falls on the nannies experience. We pay our nanny with 10+ years of experience, $25 an hour for a toddler and infant. She was at $24 and we upped her to $25 with the infant. All of our friends pay between $20-$25.

It’s $20/hr.

But seriously, just ask your friends/neighbors/coworkers what they pay. Or ask those people to ask their friends.

“I want to be sure I’m offering a fair wage. Would you mind letting me know what you’re paying?”

+1 to allllll of this (including that it's about $20/hr).

We pay $24/hour for a nanny share with two babies, downtown, so yeah, one family, a smidge further out, about $20 is about right.

Good morning,

What are the going rates for nannies in the Bethesda and Chevy Chase area? For one kid? For two (one toddler and one baby)?

Have a nice day.
