What? No. I had my first at 39. Naturally conceived, after the first time of starting to try for a baby. Very quick. Every woman's body is different though.

I live in the DMV area and I am definitely NOT an "old mom". Most of the moms of my DC's classmates are around the same age.

first at 33, 2nd at 36. Many of my kids friends are older than me! In our neighborhood it is the young moms who are out of place. Much of the DMV is highly educated, and having children when older is the norm.

47 is obscene, sorry. Bring on the hate posts but you're not only risking severe abnormalities but you will stick out as a weirdo.

Not in DC. I had my first at 36; most of my friends back home in Texas had 5-10 year olds at the time.

Bottom line, have a baby when it’s right for you.

+1

Me: 33 and 35 when kids were born
A friend: 41 and 43 when kids were born
another friend: 36 and 41 when kids were born
another: 35
another: 30 and 32 -- one of the younger ones I know

Most of the women I know were in their 30s when their kids were born.

And we are not necessarily career focused women, but we do live in major metro areas. We just waited till we met the right person, and the time was right. Well, that.. and a few were oops babies. I'm now 51.

Depends on where you live. Around here 9NWDC), 33-35 is a perfectly normal age to have a first/second baby.

Not in the DMV. I had my first at 30 and felt like a teen Mom by comparison.

Am I going to be obscenely old if I don't have a baby until 33-35? I know this is a ridiculous question but at 30, all of my friends are already married and starting to have babies and I am worried I'll be the oldest mom at school dropoff, you know?
