Well, last week, when I started off by asking if they had any snow, my MIL cut me off and said, “We just want to talk to the girls.” And it occurred to me that they’ve done and said this the whole time; ignore me completely, cut me off, etc. So this week I decided, you want just the girls? You got them. I hand the phone over and hear them say “we can only see the lamp” or “I think you muted it” or “one at a time.” And then when my oldest decides she’s done, they hang up.

Oh well! If they don’t like it, they can schedule calls with their son. I’m done trying to facilitate. They didn’t even say hello to me before. I can’t believe I put up with it that long. I’m free!

I love this! Your ILs sound like my ILs. You've inspired me!

I just automatically hand the phone to my kid with my parents. Makes life so much better. They have zero interest in me and very little in the kids so its a five minute call.

Lol. To be honest I do that to my mom too. And she’s a good mom. I’m just like here’s your grandson Mom deal.

Honestly, you deserve a lot of credit for answeringn the phone at all after that. I don't think I would.

OP here. Thank you all for the support! The people pleaser in me is torn, but I know just accepting bad treatment wasn’t working for me.

Good for you, op!

5.5 and 3

And yes, what I hear is fairly funny. There’s a lot of “showing Grandma” something, and they’re just shouting and covering the camera with half a finger.

You want just the girls? Your wish is my command!

To be honest, I’m giving myself time to cool down. I’m going to talk to him about it this weekend. The only change so far is I no longer initiate the call. They call me, and I don’t deny the call, but I don’t even say hi, I just hand the phone to my kids, and it’s over within minutes.
