Nanny here who’s potty trained 29 children over the years. 20 to 23 months is the easiest on you and, more importantly, the child. Do Oh Crap method with rewards.

Go for it! Mine was introduced to the potty by daycare and starting telling us he had to poop at about 16 months. Don't feel like you have to do it all at once, though - poop and pee are different urges, and we were not pee trained until age 2 1/2. Which I didn't mind as changing wet pull-ups is no big deal once you're done with poops.

I definitely think it is worth a try. I’d just like to give a counter example to all the PP‘s who say their kids trained in no time. We started training my son at 23 months, and two months later we are still struggling especially with pooping on the potty. He knows when he’s going but isn’t comfortable doing it on the potty most of the time. It is way harder than when he was in diapers because we have to worry about how often he’s going potty, and I am doing so much more laundry! I’m not sure if waiting longer would have helped us or not, but just wanted to throw this out there to help manage expectations. Hopefully you will luck out and be done with potty training in a flash!

Mine started at 14 months when I was training my older one. She was out of diapers before he was.

Do it op!!! My kids took to it like a fish to water. My first had horrific diaper rashes so she was very aware of when she pooped. She poop trained at like 18 months and finally her rashes cleared up (we had tried everything!!!)

Go for it OP! I found the book Oh Crap to be very helpful. I found the author to be a bit annoying, but the practical advice was worth wading through it.

Of course you go for it.

Small potty at that age. Give her lots of practice pulling up and down pants. No underwear for awhile.

Oh, and I would do the little potty. It is much easier than the potty seat for little legs.

I would say try it now, definitely. I started at 24 months with my daughter, but I wish I'd started earlier. She was showing all the readiness signs by 18 mo, but the pediatrician told me not to. I think all I did was give her 6 extra months to get REALLY ATTACHED to pooping in a diaper while crouching behind a table.

Also a quick Google will tell you that 20 months is prime potty training time.

Is it too early? She comes to us and says "pop! pop!" (poop) before she poops, and then gives herself a round of applause when done. (It's hilarious.) She is also sometimes dry in the morning.

My older kid trained much closer to three and wore pullups at night past the age of 4. It wasn't difficult with him and I'm not looking to do things too early, I am just wondering if we have a window of opportunity here...
