I find that so many people believe that child support is supposed to cover all of a child’s expenses and that’s not true. It’s just a portion. So many times women are disappointed and say they are not getting enough child support when in reality the cost of living and raising a child is higher than then realized and that they will actually need to increase their own income since now they are dependent on a single income.

Damn that’s high. What’s his salary? I make that biweekly

exactly. childcare is expensive. if the kid is in daycare or aftercare, custody is less than 50-50, and the mom isn’t a high earner, $2400 is a very easy number to get to.

Because the parents and/or the courts decided that was the correct amount. Kids are expensive. MYOB.

Income + how frequently he sees the child. More evenly split time between parents = less child support.

If he makes 100K it seems high, but if he makes 400K it sounds really low. Regardless, it’s none of your business. And it classless to try to reduce the support he provides for his child. Go date someone without kids if you have a problem with him spending money on his kid.

For child support? It depends on his income. If he has high income and a child in day care, yes it can be normal. Some of it may also be alimony.

Is this normal in DC??
