To the OP, your son can play down a year once he's an adult and old enough for the masters leagues.

Nope. My son has been paying down a year for a while now. It was the easiest thing in the world to edit his birth certificate. We just had to switch clubs the year we did it, and make sure we were playing in a different league.

It's been a great experience for us as a afmily, watching him dominate. I recommend it.

Certain clubs cheat like hell, most clubs wouldn’t accommodate a player wanting to do it though

I started refereeing 4 years ago. I thought there were so many clubs that had illegal players. Whenever I "check in" certain teams, I look much harder than usual. I just want to say that I have NEVER found an illegal player and I have refereed the usual suspect clubs many times. I'm not saying it doesn't happen but I haven't caught it at least and neither have others referees that I closer with.

If a GK maybe but unlikely. Why not just got to a club with an 05 age group?

Go to Team America FC they are notorious for playing down.

The DA allowed smaller players to play down an age group. However, DA no longer exists and I don’t know of another league that allows it.

Never heard of this being allowed. No way to apply fairly and equitably, and defeats the point of the age cutoffs.

DD’s friend left her former team and is not currently playing. Her club doesn’t have her age group and she’s wondering if she could play down?

Can an 05 play with 06 team? Is there a waiver or mechanism? I don’t see anything on the NCSL website so I assume no?
