If you haven’t tested again yet, eating before the test can impact the results showing a lower tsh level. I have hypothyroidism and take Synthroid to manage it. My level was 4.5 which could have been missed by not fasting.

2. A “normal” range does not mean ideal for pregnancy. The most recent guidance I got from my fertility doctor was under 2, even better if close to 1.5
3. I would totally test again!

+1 to all of this.
I saw an endocrinologist to manage my thyroid. He wanted my TSH between 1 and 1.5 for pregnancy. My OB and my PCP both considered anything as high as 4 to be “normal”.

+2. Test again for sure. Pregnancy hormones could very well throw off your results. And I would do the full recurrent pregnancy loss workup, if you haven't already. Karyotyping, RPL blood panel, endometrial biopsy. Immune issues if you want to be very thorough and are willing to pay out of pocket (likely). I had a very surprise issue that probably accounted for some of my losses, and we almost didn't test for it. If your RE pushes back, then you push harder. You really have to self advocate with RPL.

I'm curious what you found? I've tested for everything you mention already except for immune issues, we we are about to do.

There's no reason not to get it tested again. Your RE will likely want to anyway given your history. Good luck. Managing my thyroid was essential to being able to carry my pregnancies to term.

I suffer from unexplained recurrent miscarriage. One of the very first tests I had was for my thyroid, and TSH, T4, and TPO all came back normal. The thing is that I have a lot of hypothyroid symptoms, and they have been getting worse, and I have a family history of thyroid disease (my mother and her mother). Looking back, I realized that I was testing for thyroid issues while I was still pregnant but knew that pregnancy was not viable and I was having a miscarriage- and the test was ordered by my OB not my RE. I don't know if any of this matters, and I am sure that to some extent I am clutching at straws, but I am also coming to this because some of the symptoms I am having are really freaking me out. I am having some new blood tests done in the next week or so, and am thinking or asking my RE to retest my thyroid, just in case. Am I just crazy (and cold!)? Or is it ever a thing for thyroid to vary enough to have a normal read at one point and still be normal overall?
