There's a list here: https://www.babygearlab.com/topics/getting-around/best-baby-backpack. Some are pricey but if you do a lot of hiking it's worth it. When son was little I just carried him in the Beco but as he got bigger the backpack worked better. If you aren't used to it, you do need some practice. Don't go out and do five to eight miles your first time with it on. Start with one or two.

I actually prefer hiking with the tula, which I used until he turned 3! I found the backpacks to be heavy and threw off my balance. I loved the tula and then wore a Fanny pack to carry to stuff.

I'd look at brands that make camping backpacks. REI has a few:

We had a Deuter one, and I could carry my chunky toddler all day in that thing. It really makes a difference when the weight is carried properly on your hips.

For hiking and such. Is there an established best one? We have a Tula which I like but nearing the point where she can sit up and I’m hoping a backpack carrier will be easier. The front one I can only wear for a mile or two. Possibly I just need to be stronger of course.
