Alternator. It can drain the battery and cause all sorts of start up issues.

There are some noises that are associated with things that make noises under load, which don’t make noises under load.

For example:

Exhaust leak noise is often only heard under acceleration, because of the increased flow of exhaust gasses out of the engine. You don’t hear it at idle because there’s not enough of leak to notice. You don’t hear it on deceleration or coasting for the same reason.

Same for transmission noises, which often only make noises under load. There’s no torque load when you’re coasting, only when you’re accelerating. So failing thrust bearings aren’t going to make noise when there’s no load on them.

Wheel bearings going bad have a resonance that typically most noticeable at certain speeds. Below and above that speed, the noise is either not noticeable or gets lost in other noises at higher speeds.

There are all kinds of things that make noise under acceleration that get quiet when you lift your foot off the gas pedal. You have to spend some time listening to the noise, and understanding when/where it’s happening. That will help identify the noise.

Just go to advance auto parts. They will put the battery in for you or join aaa and have them do it.

So I went to take it in and they were full said it would be almost two weeks. So if anyone has a reccomendation of someone in Rockville I would appreciate it.

Oddly, the engine light is not on anymore and car is running fine.

A little backstory. 2015 car

In August my "Check transmission" and engine light came on. I was driving about 3 hrs from home. i stopped at the nearest dealership. They said the car seemed fine, took down the check engine light and said I was ok to go home. I drove home fine and took it in the next day. They said bc the check engine light was gone they didn't know the code for what was wrong. It seemed fine to them. They charged me for a ton of other stuff (brakes, tires, etc)

last night I went to CVS. When I got back in the car wouldn't start. Lights, dashboard and everything would come on. The car would sound like it was beginning to start up but then would stop. I tried several times. Waited for awhile and then it started. I drove home with no issues. The check engine light is on

Taking in it today, but wondering if you have any ideas what it could be.
