BTC is hedge against inflation.

BTC has value because people say it has value. It’s gold, but without the shinny metal

+1, the price increase is due to the greater fools theory

No it’s not.

Because there are so many of those seminars and most are selling you something. I'm surprised you even went there. You still have a chance though. I bought Etherum myself yesterday. I don't want to look back 5-10 years and wish I had bought some, and yes, I can afford to lose the money. Won't even miss it in few months.

It was at an energy conference.

bitcoin value is in the scarcity value and transportability value. hard to flee to another country with 50 oz of gold bars. the supply of btc is fixed (scarce). there are arguments for and against bitcoin. unlike gold, bitcoin has no actual use case as a commodity (cannot be made into jewelry or electronic components). whether or not bitcoin will prevail as the most efficient blockchain technology in the future remains to be seen. Decentralized finance via blockchain would be a progressive step for human economics - whether central banks allow this to happen is a whole other question

Why wouldn't programmable crypto replace btc?

True. Except Dalio's is probably a little bit more important than any old joe schmo's, plus there is data to support his position.

Total speculation. That’s all the explanation there is / you need.

What’s up with bitcoin? Tesla bought $1.5 billion worth of it. Do you think more companies will follow suit?
