Overweight curmudgeonly bureaucrat?

Frustrating.

No. Elect a rational Democrat in the primary. What is wrong with this County?

I tried.

Folks about 75% of the issues described in the article are Larry Hogan's fault. If you wanted to have a centralized system for vaccine administration that was something the governor could have done, not the MoCo county executive, who has no authority over vaccines at hospitals or pharmacies.

The logistics nightmare is on MoCo who had months to come up with a good priority list and scheme and register everyone or ad many as they could and give everyone a freaking number in line. But MD did bot get enough vaccines either and they are stingy with MoCo.

Every time I think about how much I hate NoVA, I immediately go to, “At least it’s not MoCo.”

Anne Applebaum wrote this excellent piece in The Atlantic comparing vaccine distribution in Montgomery County to Soviet-era cronyism and bureaucracy.
https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2021/02/americas-soviet-style-vaccine-rollout/617942/

ot Rumor No. 1: You know about X? X got the vaccine—she knows someone at the hospital ...

One of my sisters is on an email listserv dedicated to gossip about the vaccine in Maryland. Users share envious stories about people who managed to get vaccinated, and they commiserate with others who didn’t. No one on this listserv is trying to cheat or cut the line. They are all people who are supposed to be eligible right now—essential workers, hospital staff, elderly people—or relatives working on their behalf. But more than 2 million people are eligible right now in Maryland, and only 80,000 doses are available each week. So we are picking our way through the thicket of information and misinformation put out by the distant nomenklatura of Maryland and Montgomery County, trying to make sense of it all.

Ok, so she doesn’t mention Elrich by name, but anyone who has been here long enough knows that he is at the heart of this problem. Elrich always reminded me of a Soviet apparatchik - he has the look, the demeanor, and the way about politics. He is elected and re-elected by his inner circle of staunch supporters who spoonfeed leftwing propaganda and live in their echo chambers, and they are the ones that receive immediate 24/7 responses from him and county services. Nobody else can stand him, and he doesn’t respond to anyone outside of his Politburo and Komsomol.

As much fun and games as Elrichism was before the pandemic, now it’s a Kafka nightmare. We have shortages and those with connections are the ones who get them, or know how to work the system. Everyone else without the secret password is left in the dark.

Montgomery County has fallen so far thanks to the far left and machine politics. The county is suffering also because of the antagonistic relationship with Hogan. When Montgomery County prospered, we elected moderates like Doug Duncan and Connie Morella. Now we’ve become the Soviet Republic of East Wokestan - and it’s backfired. Vaccines being kept out of the arms of seniors, many of color - not very woke, is it?
