You may be one of the lucky ones who goes through the "change" in 18months to 4 years.

It's just you. We still discuss menopause around the dinner table 4 or 5 times a week.

NP. This comes off as a bit cold even if you didn’t mean it that way. Yes, it’s important to talk to your GYN about it but it’s equally important to have friends or a forum where people can discuss it. Does anyone know of such a place? One where it isn’t a complain and whine fest?

I remember it being discussed a lot in the 80's too, OP.
In fact, the episode I remember most of "The Golden Girls" is the one where Blanche goes through menopause. Do you remember that one? She doesn't get her period and thinks she might be pregnant, but it turns out she is going through menopause?

This is kind of funny. When my mom went through it in the 80’s which is when the OP mentions hearing about it more. I have just gone through it in the past few years and have more discussions in the past 5-7 about it than ever before.
Th information is out there and the conversations are out there whenever someone wants to investigate.

Menopause was really being discussed for the first time in the 80’s as a non-taboo subject. That’s why it was discussed more. Also, hormone replacement therapy was big business.

When I was growing up in the 80’s, it seemed like menopause was a hot topic. There were lots of articles about it and references to it in shows and movies. Now at 48, I never hear about it anymore. My doctor doesn’t even bring it up anymore.
Is this just me or have others noticed that menopause gets less attention than it used to?
