My period was like that when I started at 12 years old. Got one and then nothing for a few months. I remember going the entire summer without it and so relieved! It was irregular probably the entire first year.

In retrospect, having seen what a REAL period was - what really happened when I was 11 was I broke my hymen. I was jumping on a trampoline. So you might confirm with your daughter that she had fresh, red blood for at least two days, and thus it was actually a period.

This is a good point and something I’d not thought of. For her, it was definitely a period. Complete with cramps and everything.

Thank you for posting. We were wondering when Period 2 might come.

Yes, I remember getting mine pretty sporadically for the first two years.

My daughter had 3 or 4 periods a year for the first two years, then she got into a pattern of every other month for quite a while before evening out.

My sister got her first at like 12 I think and then didn’t have it again for probably 2 years.

I think it was 4-6 months between my DD’s first two periods. She’s had it maybe 10 times in first 18 months.

Yep, got my first period at age 11, and I recall not getting another for like six months (when I finally got my second, it was pretty heavy, just FYI).

Great! Good to hear this is normal.
No possibility of pregnancy, thank god!!

Quite common.
But also, no chance she could be pregnant, right? If there's any concerns have her take a test. If not possible, I wouldn't worry about the irregularity itself.

Same here - 13 yr old got 1x. A whole year has passed and nothing. Not sure if I should worry.

12 year old for her first period in November. She hasn’t had another since. I know it takes a while for most girls to become regular. Is it normal for it to be months before it comes back? What was your daughter’s experience with this? Thanks!
