Agree! It’s just hair!!!

DD has had streaks of various colors since middle school and recently dyed her hair almost black. I would recommend against solid black dye unless she gets it done at a salon since it can look really harsh, but hey, it's hair! It grows out. I am MUCH happier to let DD experiment with hair color/style than with more permanent things like piercings (not that I judge that either, fwiw). These are pretty harmless forms of expression.

This makes me want to scream. It's hair. Let her express herself.

Adding, it doesn’t sound super dramatic tbh. If she can get it done professionally to start it will look much better.

I would just make sure she's aware that it can be challenging to undo a black dye job if she changes her mind.

From what I understand, the process of going back to her original color or another color can be expensive, time consuming and very damaging to the hair. Maybe encourage her to chat with someone who does hair for a living if you have any friends or family.

It may give her some confidence. Fitting in is less important than how she feels about herself. As a former weirdo, who now has a very average hairdo and color; I recommend permissiveness with appearance for teens. They’re figuring themselves out, and a little freedom goes a long way. She’ll feel supported too.

Let her know it’s hard to be strip black from blonde though, so it’s a big choice that may require big changes (like several haircuts and weird roots) to grow out.
