I have a freshman at Poolesville SMCS. I don't know the difference between precalc and magnet precalc. Your student will be in the magnet version, so what difference does it make?

The Research class (there is a freshman version of it) is more of a hands-on, applied science class. For virtual learning, they have been doing a lot with soldering.

There are some textbooks - we have precalc, physics, and are picking up chem next week. We also have a French book and a novel or two. I think that's about it for textbooks this year.

Happy to answer any other questions you might have.

Yes generally to text books.

Thanks so much for the response. Do you know if they do text books for Mag. Precalc as well?

We just found that my DC got accepted ito the SMCS program at Poolesville. I was looking at MCPS website and could not find any detailed course information. Some of the questions I have are
1. What is the difference between Precalc and Magnet Precalc
2. What is the Research class
3. Do they provide text books for any of the courses

Thanks so much!
