Consistent with previous years, ECNL Alums have again overwhelmingly dominated the 2019 individual conference honors in the “Power 5” conferences – the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), Big Ten Conference, Big 12 Conference, Southeastern Conference (SEC), and the Pac-12 Conference. In total, there are over 1,100 ECNL Alums playing in these five conferences, accounting for more than 62% of all rostered players in the Power 5

The ECNL College Impact tracks the number of Girls ECNL alums playing soccer in college, and shows an impressive increase year after year. The Girls ECNL’s impact on the NWSL professional league has also been significant, with 65% of the 2018 NWSL draftees being ECNL Alums.

What is ECNL-R - is that not expansion? What have they done on the boys side again? Still waiting.


ECNL-R is absolutely not an expansion. It’s a league for the second teams of ECNL clubs. It allows the club more control of scheduling, etc while at the same time keeping the money under the ECNL umbrella versus sending the money to another league. It’s about financial stability.

Unlike USSF who is going broke

What is post expansion? ECNL didn’t expand. They replaced. They expanded a little with the DA clubs coming back into the fold. So, the commitments would be even greater.

The same girls that went into ECNL's PDP system will go into Super Cup, so it's not really a new thing. The new part about it is that it will be bigger and will now has a club competition component to it. Playing against the best in a competitive environment is only going to help these players.

Selections will have a political component, and will not be perfect. All sports at this level are like this. But it's better than PDP because there will be more girls in it. In any event, it's not going to amount to much this year, we'll be lucky to have national championships.


Is the PDP no longer running? ( I mean when soccer gets back to normal).
