I think only rarely one would need to wait months long. That is if you have to have a particular RE and that RE happened to be unavailable.
Every clinic has several REs. They have to rotate doctors 7 days a week because ovulation doesn't come only on weekdays. So chances are you can get an appointment for any RE in a clinic rather quickly.

I think I got one within a week at Columbia in fall 2019.

I got one within a couple weeks at Shady Grove but that was shortly after they reopened last spring.
