Another person asking, why does it have to be a SUV?

If you plan to have more kids and or have a pet get something three rowed, whether SUV or minivan

We've had a station wagon all these years with kids (who are in elementary now). Easy to use load strollers or diaper change in the back, and the car is low to the ground so they could climb in and out from a relatively young age. Also handles much better than an SUV too.

Yes, I’ll never understand that. We’ve had a sedan and a hatchback with our kid, and in both cases, it’s been very easy to get the stroller in and out. And while getting an infant seat in and out of a car is never super fun, it didn’t feel uniquely more difficult with our car than my IL’s SUV?

But to me there is a real advantage to a lower vehicle once kids are 2 or so. Our DC has been crawling in and out of the car and her car seat since then (she’s 3 now). We don’t have to help except with the buckle. That’s not an option with an SUV that sits far off the ground, not until older.

Just get a minivan. It’s way better than an SUV.

It's so nice to have an SUV with a kid. Makes loading and uploading of kids and strollers a lot easier. Also, you can easily change a diaper in the trunk, later on they can potty in a travel potty in back too. We've also had tons of picnics out the back of our SUV.

We have an MDX, we also considered the Mazda CX-9 and the Honda Pilot. All have a 3rd row. We mostly keep ours folded down but we've used it on several occasions.

Depends on how many kids. I love our Forester but we only have 1 kid. The middle seat is really narrow: you cannot put a car seat there, or comfortably put a human there when the car seat is installed.

But for 3 tall people and a dog, it works great. DH and I are too tall to comfortably fit in many compact cars.

DD recently told me she wishes we had a minivan: she thinks the sliding door is better. I don't know about a minivan but I think our next car could be a three-row SUV.

I have two kids in a Honda civic. It works totally fine for us. No need to get an SUV.
