If my DH and I are not yet vaccinated, my kid is not going into the building. No way am I letting my kid bring covid home for a stupid test.

Even if they're in the building already, I'll probably opt my 8th grader out this year unless she tells me not to. It's been stressful enough and there's been a definite lack of instruction. I have no desire to put my kid through 3 SOLs (there are actually 5 for 8th grade, but it looks like two will be "local alternative assessments" done as part of regular classroom instruction) when I don't have to.

Good, don't! There is zero benefit to doing it. If you want the "data" from it, you can download an old SOL and have your kid do it on an asynch day so you can see where they are weak.

The only kids who really "need" to go in are high schoolers who need the credit to graduate. Everyone else should be opting out.

LCPS kids have been doing MAP testing at home, so the schools have that data. I don't see the point of in person SOLs.

Same here. We decided to go virtual for the whole year, next year is a different story. But with things the way they are there is no way I'm sending them in only to take the SOL's.

My 6th grader is excited to go in for the IATT. I’m glad for them to go in and get some test taking practice again.

I've never bothered to opt my kids out of SOLs before, but this year? The school is telling me I have to send my kids in to the schools in person to take them. Not going to happen. What is VDOE thinking?
