ambrosia? my mom made it with canned mandarin oranges, canned pineapple (both drained), shredded coconut, mini marshmallows, and sour cream or plain yogurt (cool whip works too but then I might do unsweetened coconut unless you want it really sweet). it was so good...now I want some!

I used dried out marshmallows to make fudge. They didn't melt 100% but close.

Op, I'm all for avoiding food waste and repurpose almost everything including scraps and bones and shells for stocks, but I would be okay throwing away a couple bags of marshmallows. Your dental bill will thank you.

On second thought, of you really want to put them to use, you could Google "marshmallow science projects." Looks like there are some good ones. Also if you can get a toothpick inserted, your kids can use them to build structures.

Not the OP, but I've learned the hard way that stale mini marshmallows are not a substitute for those little dehydrated marshmallows (which you can buy in bags online). The online suggestions for rehydrating seem to suggest some version of moisture and low heat.

How about a fluffy fruit salad thing? Tons of retro recipes from the 40s and 50s use mini marshmallows and I bet they would rehydrate just fine in one of those. OP here. We've been putting them in hot cocoa, but there's only so much hot cocoa we can drink, and there are 1.5 bags of these marshmallows.

Has anyone has experience in baking with them (maybe you've been able to make the fluffy marshmallow filling for Rice Krispie treats)?

We have 1.5 bags of mini marshmallows, and it looks like they are all dried out. Any ideas of what we can do with them? My DH tried making Rice Krispy treats but the marshmallows wouldn't melt (I'm not sure if the heat was too high or if he didn't give it enough time, or if the fault was 100% with the marshmallows).

Any ideas of what we can do with them, other than throwing them out?
