Your argument is that people should be allowed to do covid-transmitting things if they feel comfortable, because if enough people feel comfortable doing covid-transmitting things, that will keep the restaurants afloat.

The restaurants aren't in trouble because of coronavirus restrictions, they're in trouble because of coronavirus.

The issue with takeout is the profit margins are low since most people don't order drinks. Restaurants make most of their money on drinks that dine-in people order. That's why there is some incentive to reopen them.

We live outside of MoCo, and when the rates were lower like this summer, we ate in restaurants. The tables were spread out, and it was 25-50% capacity. The numbers are up where we are, so we stopped doing it. We usually did it when we were out for the day like at a park, and not near home.

As for doing it now, I can see a family, or a group of coworkers who have been vaccinated doing this safely. They can already do it outside safely in those tent things they have set up.

I hope not. I feel much safer getting takeout when the restaurants are closed, since most don't seem to offer curbside service.

It's sad how many people don't realize that restrictions will remain in place until we can get this virus under control, and that when that happens, as soon as restrictions are eased, viral spread will start back up again, which will lead to renewed restrictions... until herd immunity is reached by mass vaccinations.

No, if anything, they need to shut down more things to get the spread under control. You can do carry out.

When they were closed for the second time, we were told it was to avoid the holiday surge that sort of happened / sort of didn't. Cases are now falling, as are deaths. Hospitals were never even close to being overrun. It's time to reopen indoor dining at 25% capacity. I appreciate that MoCo is always going to be more conservative when it comes to this, but we are ready. I used to argue that restaurants shouldn't be open while schools were closed, but given MCPS seems intent on staying closed until 2022, that's no longer really a valid argument.
