We found a terrific tutor on Outschool for my DD with dyscalculia. They do one on one remote sessions.

If it is just long division I would move on and concentrate on really knowing fractions- simplifying, adding, sub, mult, dividing. One of the best predictor of how well a student does in algebra is how well do working with fractions.

Hello all, my son who is actually on the spectrum as well (very high functioning) is actually looking to tutor math this summer. He's 16 - just finished his freshman year at Walls High School - and would be most comfortable tutoring a 5th-7th grader. Any thoughts?

We've had a writing tutor for our ADHD/anxious son from Lori for 3 years now and she's a real gem. Lori (the owner) is a former MCPS teacher and super customer-service oriented. She tries hard to make the right match. We had a dud of a spanish tutor from her for our older son and she changed out the tutor very quickly and to our satisfaction a few years ago.

Honestly, we had the most success with DS watching numerous animated YouTube videos several times then practice on paper right afterwards.

I also like outschool because it has so many tutor options. If one person isnt a good fit, try another.

Hi OP
My son is 12 and has a similiar profile. He is also very frustrated with long division, though he is great with math concepts overall.
We are thinking of trying one of these classes from Outschool:

I like that there isn't a long term commitment. If he doesn't like the class we can just move on

We have worked with Will Cook, a college student, with our DC with some learning issues. He charges $35 an hour, so might be worth a try for help with king division! Www.willcooktutors.Com

Good morning - I'm looking for a math tutor to work with my 10-year-old son, who has ASD/Asperger's, ADHD, and anxiety. Long division is the sticking point. He hasn't been diagnosed with a math disability but it's definitely an area of relative weakness. Any recommendations for someone who might be a good fit? We're in Fairfax but since we'd prefer to do sessions remotely so location may not matter. Thanks in advance!
