Dog parks are evil places. The whole concept is bizarre. Do not take her there.

I know dog parks are popular but, I don't think you should take them there. It can be very dangerous to mix dogs with different temperament and not all owners know how to control their dogs. For socialization we only meet the dogs we know but, avoid the public dog park. Too many near misses.

OP here sorry for all the typos—was typing on my phone! Thanks for the feedback. I think we’ll wait on it. She does have puppy friends that can come to the backyard but like w kids that involves planning, coordination to set up those playdates. Was trying to find something we could do spontaneously, but we’ll wait until she’s older and spayed.

Legally you can, but as a trainer I’d caution severely against it. She’s going through fear periods and still learning appropriate behavior, and dog parks are terrible examples. One bad experience and you could end up with years of reactivity to solve.

Better to invite a few dogs you know and trust to run in your yard.

FWIW, my friends nine-month-old male dog only humps male dogs that have recently been neutered.

Some dog parks have a separate area for smaller dogs. Maybe try one of those?

I don’t know about etiquette but I would wait bc she will get humped and for some puppies it’s overwhelming. If you go, there’s usually a puppy section.
