The second time around, my RE suggested taking out my tubes since it improves IVF success (we had one failed transfer with my first). That’s when they did the laparoscopy.

to be clear- you had endometriosis before you did IVF and before you had a c section?

Did you eventually have success despite CSection?

Thank you for sharing. I am so happy it worked out for you and it sounds like you had a great RE that was engaged and advising you well. Do you mind sharing your RE too? I am currently looking for someone new and have an appt lined up with Dr. Dimattina.

He’s primarily and an oncologic gynecology surgeon but sees tons of endometriosis cases.

Thank you so much! If you are comfortable sharing more information about your experience, may I ask how they came about diagnosing you? Was it through an initial diagnostic laparoscopic?

I am wondering because I am being advised by my RE to have a diagnostic laparoscopic to look for endometriosis and also tubal damage. She says the doctor would simultaneously try and resolve any issues found during the laparoscopic. The doctor she recommended also is an oncologic gynecology surgeon as well. Thank you.

Bringing this back up again - I believe I have a c section defect and possibly also endometriosis. Has anyone had a successful c section defect, tubal damage and/or endometriosis laparoscopic procedure or diagnostic procedure with a surgeon and would be willing to share a name?

I have open to travel to another state. Thank you!

No, it's quite specific. https://www.ajog.org/article/S0002-9378(18)30752-X/fulltext

She is not in DC.

You might be able to get your family doctor to order the ultrasound. Don't ask the surgeon who did the surgery, it is kind of accusing him of incompetence, or at least s/he may view it that way.

There is not a whole lot known about defects. They're only coming up frequently now that sooo many women have had c sections. Alot of Drs know very little about them. They kind of don't like thinking about them because they are caused by doctors.

If you're having problems getting pregnant you should see a reproductive endocrinologist and have a work up. They should be able to help you. They would know the good surgeons in your area.

BTW the woman who I know who has the c section defect has serious symptoms, like very painful periods. It was found on ultrasound because she is an IVF patient and she was being evaluated for a second embryo transfer.

To PP: do you know the name of her surgeon?

I too would love to know how you discovered you have a c section defect. I have unexplained secondary infertility after a c section. I have no proof but a gut feeling it is related to c section. Thank you

Do you mind if I ask how you found out you have a c section defect? I had a c section and am concerned for myself.

I know a woman on another forum who supposedly found a very good surgeon through her reproductive endocrinologist but covid is delaying her surgery

Can you be more specific? Are you talking about scar tissue preventing implantation? I had a laparoscopy performed after my first C section (a T-cut) to minimize scar tissue before getting pregnant again.

Was anybody diagnosed with C-section defect as the cause of secondary infertility? Is there a specialist with this experience you would recommend for it, in this area or somewhere else?
