So I’m of the camp that believes the idea of an apple core is a myth. Yes there is a stem and seeds but otherwise it’s all just apple. The center is a little different in texture but really is not noticed when chewing. When I cut up apple for my kids, I take off the stem and cut the whole thing up and remove the seeds. You don’t have to cut the middle out, it’s just wasted apple if you do. (I know OP was talking about child eating the stem and seeds but felt this was a good location to educate and try to get others to stop believing the lie of the apple core.)

Super environmentally conscious backpackers always eat the entire apple while hiking - part of the “leave no trace” concept of not discarding non-native seeds to grow. They don’t suffer any negative effects, and your toddler will be fine, too! I’m mostly just impressed at the dietary boldness he has, since mine are way too picky to ever come close to eating an apple core.

Oh this is actually great for his microbiome.

Oh this take me back. I have one who has always been part garbage disposal and he used to regularly eat apple cores, strawberry leaves, etc. if I didn’t slice things before handing it to him. He is now in kindergarten and healthy as a horse (and he still eats a ridiculous amount ridiculously quickly)!

I think you'd have to eat like 20 apples worth of finely ground seeds (you won't absorb it from a whole seed) all at once to absorb enough cyanide to get sick.

I read once that SCt Justice David Souter ate the entire apple except the stem. My son has always done this. If my kid and the SCt Judge lived through thousands of apples, you’re probably good.

He'll be fine. I'd probably remove the core of apples in the future, just because enormous quantities of apple seeds aren't great for you, but I wouldn't worry about this once.

If he's like my youngest kid as a toddler, and changing the shape of food made it an entirely different food in their mind (seriously, kid happily ate rotini for years, wouldn't touch ziti), I'd invest in something like this:

Just ordered this! Thanks.

My child used to eat entire cherries. A lot of them, pits and all, when we would pick them.

My kids did this all the time and are as healthy as horses. I’m 90% sure that they are not actual horses.

What, Lol! I can’t imagine that tasted good. He will not grow an apple tree in his belly. He will be ok!

Do I need to worry? I know you aren’t supposed to eat the seeds and toddlers are small. Anyone’s toddler do this before?
