The common data set on many SLACs does not include GPA for this reason -- lots of private schools have tough grading scales. Does she have scores yet? What does your school's naviance show?

Yes it is in Md but an option.

I know you said small, but for writing, take a look at the University of Iowa.

Look at the US News and World Report rankings from 50-100. Also, talk with the college counselor at your child's school for ideas.

OP, if your DC is in one of the tough grading schools, she should be fine. Freshman year might be a tough adjustment since she’s on her own but she’ll be ok. It’s an adjustment for a lot of kids no matter their grades or school. Good luck!

My DD is a solid B/c student at a tough grading private school ... she’s doing the best she can but I hear so many people on here and at our local public have these unreal GPas like 4.2 etc....I’m having a hard time helping her build a college list. Every college we look at seems to say all their students are 3.5 and up gpa. And I’m not looking at super selective schools. She wants a small liberal arts school, not a party school but good creative writing program.mid Atlantic or New England ideally. Can you tell me about schools that fit this description?
