Use the Medela supplemental nursing system (SNS) or the SNS Starter kit. It won't effect breastfeeding and your baby will get formula at the same time to help bring down jaundice number.

Second 5-10ml syringe feeding if you can— we had no issues going back and forth. Take care of yourself and pump regularly you really don’t want to be dealing with a blocked duct or mastitis.

I'm the other poster. I don't think she can do the supplemental nursing system because the baby can't have any breast milk right now. I used a bottle.

I think there is a lot of stress out there about supplementing being bad. I supplemented due to breastfeeding jaundice, baby losing birth too much weight, breast milk jaundice, anesthesia I had that was unrelated to childbirth and the non-OB doctor recommended pump and dump, and being hospitalized suddenly so someone else had to feed the baby with no stored breast milk. I was still able to breastfeed both kids for well, well over a year each.


I left an extra word in there. I meant baby's weight dropping too far below birth weight.

How do you supplement breast feeding. Was told my baby has breast milk jaundace?? Don't want to just stop an switch to bottle I feel so bad. I know I have to listen did anyone else go threw this. Was told just for a few days.
