I'm fine with the family members (that live with a teacher) getting it, but what authority to they have to require kids to get it in order to return to work, if they and their own families are vaccinated? In that instance, isn' t it the choice of parents whether to put kids at risk, since it is not harming the teachers in any way?

Amen. The people kicking the can to avoid work at great cost to children should not have become teachers.

Kids are not vax and neither are their families- so they must still mask and social distance. You cannot fit full classes in the classrooms with those restrictions. We will be lucky if they go back “fully” in the fall. Kids still won’t be vax by then. Are you ok sending your kid full time unmasked?

Why would I do that? He can wear a mask, he has no disability that would prevent him from doing so.

If it would get them back in school, yes. Yes I would.

My neighbor is a teacher in APS who has her vaccine scheduled. She said most of the teachers in her grade (2) have written the principal and said they won’t feel comfortable coming back until the case load is down and children can receive the vaccine. She said it does her family no good if she can transmit the virus back home. She is also petitioning for family members of teachers to receive the vaccine.

I don’t say much as I have been at work the whole time in a covid response command center.

I don't think he will have dates at this week's meeting, probably the one in 2 weeks.

Most teachers will go back and happily do their jobs. Some will still complain. They are the same teachers who always complain about something. They have counterparts in every single industry.
-APS teacher who is so sick of the minority of teachers who are giving us a bad reputation.

We don’t know yet. Elementary schools will get an early release day Feb 5 to prepare teachers.

You were in an enclosed room for 6 hrs with 20 people? What job is that.

Teachers are vaccinated but their families would still be at risk; we might get a hybrid but until we know vaccine suppresses transmission don’t get excited

I'm in an enclosed room with far more than 20 people for 10-12 hours a day. And these are adults who are more likely to transmit the virus than 10 year olds. It's a risk that I've accepted because I need to keep my job.

So exactly how long do we need to wait until the vaccinated teachers are comfortable being in the classroom?

less than 1/3 of APS staff has been given the FIRST vaccination. Teachers are not vaccinated.

Are you kidding? Have you been to Chipolte, or any other eating establishment? Not only is staff in the room with people, they are not wearing masks because they are eating.
