Hi OP, Wishing you the best of luck! I only took one day off. I was a bit overstimulated and also did not respond well to the anesthesia, but I was able to return to work the next day. But the best thing: I never had to do it again! Hope all goes well for you, too!

I didn’t have anesthesia though.

100% you need the whole day. You're not even allowed to drive yourself home. I almost threw up in the car from the anaesthesia

If you don't get ovarian hyperstimulation then one day should be enough. You may not be feeling very great though.

I definitely think taking off the day of the retrieval is a good idea—I was groggy and tired afterwards. I think you should be okay the next day, especially working from home. I will tell you it took a few days to feel totally back to normal (felt crampy and sore but it lessened each day) but it wasn’t bad enough that I couldn’t work (also from home).

I took off half a day for an early morning retrieval.

I was fine after a few hours when the anesthesia wore off. I wouldn’t have run a marathon but definitely could have handled working the next day.

This is my first experience with IVF and will have my retrieval in the middle of next week. I know I’ll want to take off the day of, but did anyone require additional time off from work? I am working from home right now anyway - will I be comfortable enough to work from home the day after? Thanks in advance.
