OP For what it’s worth a lot of colleges want to see 3-4 years of a foreign language in high school and those with a foreign language requirement will often allow incoming students to waive out of it by demonstrating proficiency.

Yes I was on this board a lot yesterday and I saw one person with bad grammar (like the poster at the top here) posting totally random BS. It is like a small handful of posters who dwell and snipe. I've reported them to Jeff who is great about deleting them but their compulsion to stay and crap all over the place is clearly very strong.

I don’t know UMD’s specific requirements, but a lot can change in 6-7 years. In mcps, your daughrer will have the chance to take AP Spanish Lang and AP Spanish Lit, and scores of 4-5 on those will give her the best chance of receiving college credit and/or placing out of a college language requirement, although it will vary by college, of course.

Hi all. I have a daughter in middle school who is interested in taking language, she is interested in taking Spanish 3.
Back when I attended university of Maryland 20 years ago, I received language arts credit in college Bc I took 5 years of Spanish in middle and high school. So instead of a language I could take something else instead. Is that still the case now, or can someone send me the link on the umd website with the correct information for graduation requirements . I couldn’t seem to find it. TIA.
