A lot of parents thing their kids are the world's most precious. They would definitely find offense to this.

I would have thought the same thing but tried really hard not to blurt it out because people can be weird about overlap between children’s names and pets names. On the other hand, if they named their kid something like Bailey, Scout, Max, or Teddy, they should realize by how that there are a ton of dogs with the same name and be chill about it.

I copied my daughter’s name from a friend’s childhood cat, though, so who am I to give advice?

doesn't bother me. I've had 2 friends tell me their dog's name is my daughter's name. it's a cute name.

I can't lie, I'm irritated at a friend who named her dog my son's name several years after I'd had my son. We are part of a bigger friend group, so it's not like my kid will see this dog a lot. But it's still really irritating to me. I'd rather have a friend name their kid the same name, but a dog feels insulting.

I actually sort of hate it when people use common names for their animals in general. Lets keep it to Sparky and Snowflake.

Not really an answer, but FYI that my daughter is thrilled to share the same name with a neighbor’s dog. (A classmate also has the same name, but my daughter much prefers the dog to the other little girl!)
